Assignment and Class Policy

The following policies take effect for assignments issued on October 27 and thereafter, and for class meetings on October 27 and thereafter. They are necessary to ensure the equitable assessment of all students and to provide a classroom learning environment free from distractions.

Assignment Policy

  1. Assignments are due in class on the due day. Generally, they are due the second class after they are issued. The assignment and its due date will be given in class, in the published class outline, and on the class home page.

  2. Assignments received into my possession within 24 hours of the class in which they were due will be accepted with a 10% penalty.

  3. Assignments received into my possession between 24 and 48 hours of the class in which they were due will be accepted with a 20% penalty.

  4. Assignments more than 48 hours late will not be accepted.

  5. If you seek an exception for non-emergency reasons (for example, an overload of work or necessary travel), the exception must be arranged at least one day before the due date.

  6. Other exceptions (for example, due to an emergency) to this policy will be granted on a case-by-case basis.

Class Policy

  1. Students not enrolled in a class may not use the computers while that class is meeting in the PC lab.

  2. During class meetings in the PC Lab, students enrolled in the class may use the computers only if computer work has been assigned for the period. Students may use the computers only for the assigned work, unless they have the instructor's permission. (If you've finished the assigned work and you're quiet, generally you may then use the computers for other purposes.)
