In-Class Web Search Exercise

Tom Kelliher, CS 102

Sept. 22, 1997

A wise and mighty oak has fallen. Robert Michael Owens, one of my thesis advisors and a Penn State professor with whom I still did much work, passed away suddenly this past week. He has had a profound influence upon my life. His funeral is today, so I will not be in class nor on campus. I will be on campus Tuesday.

Please do this work in class. You may work either as an entire class or as at most two groups. We will discuss your findings at the beginning of class Wednesday.

There are sites on the Web from which one can obtain term papers and research papers. How many sites can you find? Are the papers free? Do the sites keep a stockpile of papers from which you can choose? If so, how extensive are their stockpiles? Will they write a ``custom'' paper for you? How much does that cost? What other ``features,'' if any, do the sites offer?

What do you think of this?
