Quiz Friday:

  1. 10--15 minutes, two or three questions.

  2. Possible topics:
    1. Passwords: choosing a good one, importance, why we have them.

    2. The three parts of a URL.

    3. Computer terms: parallel and serial ports, processor, RAM memory, disk, multi-media, operating system, modem, network card, ink-jet and laser printers. Be able to define, give examples, discuss compatability.

    4. Buying a computer: the important issues.

    5. Buying software: the important issues.

    6. Types of stores.

    7. Three specific packages: Intuit's Quicken, Microsoft's Works and Outlook.

In-Class Exercise

  1. Internet Explorer.

  2. Use Excite (http://www.excite.com/) to research a topic.

  3. Go to Search Tips and read the sections What is Excite Search?, What Can I Search?, and Search Tips.

  4. Use cut/copy and paste to move information from one window to another.

  5. Copy information to a Word document.

  6. E-mail the Word document as an attachment.
