Eclipse Oxygen Software for Java 8 Development
Preliminaries for Both Windows and Macs
Eclipse is Java software. If you don't have a Java JDK 8 installed,
before proceeding further
go here.
For the version, select OpenJDK 8 (LTS) and select
the HotSpot
JVM. Then, download the installer for your platform
(Windows x64 or macOS x64).
Windows Installation
The Instructions below are for 64-bit Windows systems only.
If you have a Windows 8 or earlier system,
see How
to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit
version of the Windows operating system if you're not sure about your
Windows version.
- Enable "Show hidden files and folders".
- Download this ZIP archive.
- Open the ZIP archive and copy the eclipseOxygen folder
to the C:\Program Files folder.
- Open the copied eclipseOxygen folder, find the eclipse
executable, and
place a
shortcut to the executable on your desktop.
- Open the folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start
Menu\Programs and drag the eclipse shortcut into it.
- To test the installation, run eclipse from the
Start Menu.
- You're finished.
Mac Installation
- Download this
macOS disk image.
- Open the disk image. Drag Eclipse into the Applications
folder.
- You're finished.
