Project – Part 4
You will perform usability testing on your prototype for your alternative communications device.
Devise usability test questions and tasks which test all five usability characteristics:
Characteristic |
Type of Usability Evaluation |
Efficient |
Time (or count clicks or page views) realistic tasks. Must use working versions of the software and plausible sample data. |
Effective |
Evaluate tasks for how accurately they were completed, and how often they produce errors. |
Engaging |
User satisfaction surveys or qualitative interviews can gauge user acceptance and attitudes towards the software. |
Error Tolerant |
Include task scenarios with potential problems in test use scenarios |
Easy to Learn |
Control how much instruction is given to test participants, or carefully recruit users with different levels of domain knowledge and experience. |
Conduct the usability tests using either classmates or friends with the SnagIt software.
Your write-up for this project should include information about what tests you conducted, the information you received from those tests, and the changes that should be implemented to your prototype as a result. (The actual changes will be made for your final version in part 5 of the project).
