CS105      Lab 1 - Introduction to Alice

Objectives:

  1. Before starting this lab you should have read Chapter 1 and Appendix A in your text.
     
  2. Open a browser and go the the class web site http://phoenix.goucher.edu/~jillz/cs105/ .  Right click on the file cs105.zip and save that file on your G: drive.  Open that file in WinZip and Extract the contents to your G: drive.
     
  3. Open Alice by going to Start - All Programs and selecting Alice.  Select the tab "Open a world" and browse to your G: drive and the folder cs105 that you just downloaded.  Select the world AppendixA_FirstWorld and click the Open button. Click Play to see this world in action.
     

  4. Under the File menu select Open World and select AppendixA_Dancing Bee.  Play this and follow the instructions on p334 to see how we can interact with an animation. 
     

  5. Follow the instructions in the Appendix A  on creating your own world on pp335-344.  Feel free to experiment!
     

  6. Follow the instructions in the Appendix A on using object "methods" to set up a new world on pp 345-350        . 
     

  7. Assignment:
    Create a Tea Party scene as described on p20 #4.  Save your world.
     

     

  8. Send your Tea Party file to me in GoucherLearn.
