  2. What is a basic PC today? Why might I want more or less? Example system: HP Pavilion 2800+, $530, after rebate.
    1. AMD Athlon XP processor 2800+ with Quantispeed architecture and 333 MHz frontside bus.

    2. 512 MB PC2700 DDR SRAM (watch out for video sharing).

      Integrated graphics with ``64 MB shared video memory.''

    3. 80 GB Ultra DMA hard drive (7200 RPM).

    4. DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive.

    5. 9-in-1 media card reader, 2 FireWire ports 7 USB 2.0 ports. No serial or parallel ports.

    6. V.92 modem and/or 10/100Base-T Ethernet networking interface.

    7. Integrated audio. No speakers.

    8. 15'' or 17'' monitor (often not included).

    9. Basic $100 inkjet printer (often not included).
